EOJ - Community Board Regeln

Quote

An Online-Community is a group of people who meet and communicate over the internet. This kind of community feeds on participation - it's a give and take. Who is not interested in taking part and contribute should rather abstain from joining and visit usual websites instead.

Board Rules are necessary to give everyone the opportunity to use the board with equal rights and make administration and moderation of the board easier. Repeated or rude vioilations of the rules may lead to banishment from the community.

  1. Use and Communication

    • Membership at the Board is free.
    • To be able to use all the options on the board registration is required.
    • All information about yourself have to be correct and true. All required fields have to be filled properly in order to be able to register.
    • Double Registration is not allowed.
    • New registration after the membership was deleted or finished is usually allowed. (exception: banishment is final)

    • To be able to access the forum "News-Ticker" you need at least 5 postings.
    • To be able to access the forums "EOJ Insider" & "Paparazzi Shots" an amount of at least 50 or more postings is required.
Posting picture from these 2 forums (Insider & Paparazzi) elsewhere is absolutely prohibited! Violation will lead to being banned from EOJBoards!

    • The membership in the community can only be maintained if the member participate. Members who remain inactive for a certain time without posting are going to be deleted during regular maintenance. (approx. 5 postings per month)
    • Postings only made to raise the amount of posts (spam) will be deleted - which postings are spam is decided by the moderator.

  2. Behaviour on the board

    • Be nice!
      - We ask anyone of you to behave and treat any of your fellow members with respect.Consider the generel nettiquette, avoid becoming personal and don't start verbal attacks. No open conflict in public.

    • Use the search
      - to avoid starting a thread with a topic that already exists. Especially when you are new you may find that a question you have is already asked. Please avoid endless repetition of ever the same questions. It's easy.

    • New here? Then introduce yourself!
      - Newbies - new members on a board - often make a mistake and intrude a conversation. This is impolite. In a restaurant you would never sit down at a table with unfamiliar people and talk. When you are new take the time and make a short introduction.

    • Don`t Feed the Trolls!
      - A "Troll" is someone who posts controversial messages with the intention of baiting other users into an emotional response. The most effective way to discourage a troll is usually to ignore him or her, because responding encourages a true troll to continue disruptive posts. So, please, don't pay attention and chances are good they give up.

    • Nothing Illegal!
      - Illegal - like porn, rude or insulting posts or any other kind of things (which are against the law) are restricted in general. It will instantly be deleted and the user might be banned.

  3. User, profile and self-expression

    • Signature/Banner
You're free to link your own banner in your signature, as long as the size (length, width, file size) does not exceed the following measures:

Banners should be not larger than: height: 140px, width: 500px, file size: 50kb or height: 180px by max. width 350 file size: 50kb
The signature in whole should not be higher than 180px.

    • Avatars
You may load up your personal avatar as long as it is not exceeding the following sizes: width: 120px, height: 130px, file size: 15 kb (otherwise the board will refuse it).

    • Self-Advertising
... is not allowed, except... you are allowed to add the link to your own (!!!) site or board to your profile and you're also free to have a banner with a decent mention of your own(!!)site. No clickable links will be accepted. Message boards may not be advertised in your signature.

  4. General guidelines for posting

    • Problems
If you have any kind of problem - handling of the board, downloads, running medias, getting a signature and so on - or even problems with other users - just send a PM to one of the staff members - if they can help they will. But please check first if there is already a thread dealing with your kind of problem. You can also post in the "Support & Technical Questions" area.

    • Posting of text and media (images, clip etc) found on the web
You HAVE TO add the source below the text. Image or link to the media: write the full address but don't make the font size of the source larger than the usual text or link. (This might lead to confusion).

    • Think first before you post
Means - we won't delete something once it is up (as long as it doesn't break the rules or law) and contains content (please avoid postings like "me too" or "I agree" or something similar....)

    • Posting Nonsense
Please no postings that contain only smilies, "yes" or "no" etc. Your postings should contain a message - however if you let yourself get tempted to do so we won't kill you but don't let it become a regular habit >> otherwise the mods will come with their brooms to clean up. *lol* This leads me to the next topic....

    • Collecting postings (a.k.a. Spamming)
This board exists to chat and discuss, to find information and to share, not to start the Olympic Poster Games - this will gain you nothing. If we notice something like that you can be sure you will receive mail from the team.

    • Size of pictures posted on the board.
Pictures you want to share with your fellow users should not exceed a width of 500px for viewable images, for larger images please use thumbnails (small size previews of your image) with a link or post the link only. Please watch the file size (approximately 150 kb) because some users might still have a slow connection and would have to wait a very, very long time for the image to download. (Yes, some are still out there *lol*).

    • Meaningful titles
Important: The title you choose for new threads should say something about the topic. Once there are several Threads named "Hello", "Help", "Sorry", "Well.." or whatever you will be grateful for any title that makes you at least guess what to expect inside.

    • Responsibility for your own posting
Of course you've to stand for what you write. Anything illegal or carelessly wrong will be deleted respectively, corrected AND if necessary, lead to further actions. Yet you do not have to be afraid to tell your honest opinion. No one will blame you for that - but most likely welcome it.

    • Taking of information/media respectively posting things you found here onto other boards/sites
Usually we don't own things brought to this board by others, we don't take any responsibilities for supposed news to be correct. (Disclaimer: If you want to use the news item on other boards or websites please ask the owner/source first. For any kind of media belonging to the board - Short question to the admins for permission and give us credit at any place you post it.)

Last but not least...

The words of moderators and administrators count. If a member of the staff tells you something then you'll have to accept it. We do our best to supply everyone with information, help you in any situation and create an atmosphere where you can enjoy being a fan of Julian McMahon. But we can only be successful if you help support us and NOT work against us.
